Kitchen/ Desk space; my book shelf

This is the largest dump center for things that don’t have a proper place. I also hoard books for sentimental reasons.

(This is the book shelf before, I let everything pile up on it)

1. I laid out everything neatly on the floor and tried to group things by type so I could have a clear picture of all the things I had.

2. Then I chose everything I no longer wanted and things that belong else where around the apartment. I purged anything that wasn’t being used or looked at.

3. I then started by placing in a pile all of the books I wanted to keep and placed them on their appropriate shelf. I made sure the piles weren’t too large, and if they were, I took more away. Then I filled it in with little things left in the keep pile.

What I am left with may not be the most beautiful, but it’s a start to simplifying my life and I like looking at the uncluttered shelf now.

Little tip: Take book sleeves off, the hard cover normally is more neutral or you can go old school and cover books with brown paper (so beautiful).

  1. You are doing a great job getting everything done. I really like your apartment by the way, it’s really nice and has a relaxed but stylish feel to it! Keep up the great work 🙂
